The Old Bridge, or the Old Drip Bridge, is a lovely eighteenth century stone bridge on 5 arches which today stands beside its successor, both crossing the River Forth just upstream of the point where the Forth unites with the River Teith.
The Old Bridge carries only a footpath now, which was in its time the main road westward out of Stirling, while the main road, the A84, now crosses the new, plain, concrete, twentieth-century bridge a few yards downstream, which latter bridge has taken over the old name to become itself the Drip Bridge.
The Old Bridge was built in the 18th century to carry the westerly road from Stirling.[1] It is now blocked to road traffic.
The tiny hamlet gathered around the bridges on the Perthshire bank is also known as 'Drip Bridge', with 'Hill of Drip' up a lane beside it.
