Hunter's Bridge crosses the River Tweed in Kelso, Roxburghshire and is now the main bridge serving the town's traffic, in place of Kelso's fine Georgian bridge, Kelso Bridge, otherwise known as 'Rennie's Bridge'. Rennie's Bridge feeds traffic into the narrow heart of the town and its cobbled market square, but the A698 bypasses the centre. Hunter's Bridge is downstream of Rennie's.
The bridge was opened in 1998 to bypass the town to the east. It is a fairly low viaduct, a long, concrete curve, built to cross both the river and the low-lying meadows on the south bank. It bears the A698 road south-west towards Jedburgh. The bridge was built by Blyth and Blyth, engineers, and opened by the Duke of Buccleugh.
An island in the Tweed called Wooden Anna was formerly connected to the south bank by a wooden decked 19th century chain suspension bridge, the remains of which were demolished when the new bridge and by-pass were built.
