Bigbury Bay
Bigbury Bay is a broad bay on the south coast of Devon, between the Bolt Tail in the south-east and Revelstoke in the north-west, open to the English Channel.
The shore of the bay is largely rocky, with a few beaches, the main beach being the broad sands at the mouth of the River Avon.
The main point of interest in the bay is Burgh Island, opposite Bigbury-on-Sea, where the Avon enters the bay. The sands connect the island to the mainland at low tide; the flood tide leaving it cut off. On the island stands a hotel, made famous by Agatha Christie and several television adaptations of her work.
