Caernarfon Castle

Caernarfon Castle is a mediæval fortress in Caernarfon, the county town of Caernarfonshire. This is a jewel of the castle-building of King Edward I, begun at the King's orders in 1283. Today Caernarfon Castle belongs to the Crown, and is cared for by Cadw.

The Edwardian town and castle acted as the administrative centre of north Wales and as a result the defences were built on a grand scale. (Read more)
