Neidpath Tunnel
The Neidpath Tunnel is a disused railway tunnel beneath the South Park Wood in Peeblesshire, just to the west of Peebles. In its day, the tunnel carried the Symington to Peebles branch line of the Caledonian Railway railway through the spur of a hill above the River Tweed.
Immediately west of the tunnel entrance is the Neidpath Viaduct over the River Tweed: the viaduct was built on a graceful curve of radius 440 yards so as to align the route with the Neidpath Tunnel. The line lost its regular passenger traffic though on 5 June 1950 and closed completely on 7 June 1954.
