The Netheravon Dovecote is to be found half a mile south of Netheravon in Wiltshire, in the valey of the River Avon on Salisbury Plain. The dovecote was built in the 18th century to serve Netheravon House: the house and estate were sold to the Crown for military purposes in 1898, and the dovecote has been entrusted to English Heritage.
This is an elegant, foursquare, brick-built dovecote, which contains over 700 dove boxes, all providing meat for the table. The Netheravon Dovecote is an excellent example of an early 18th century type, with a tiled pyramid-shaped roof with two dormers on the south side and is topped by a wooden lantern with a ball finial.
The dovecote is a Grade II listed building.[1]
