Bridehead

The River Bride is a little river in southern Dorset, flowing east to west to enter the English Channel just east of Bridport, which is believed to take its name form the Riveer Bride, albeit that the Bridport of today is not on this river.

The Bride rises in a beauteous lake known at Bridehead, by Littlebredy, just three miles from the coast. From here it does not drive to the sea to the south but heads west, through farmland to reach the coast at Burton Brastock (SY478895), in a brief gap in Burton Cliff, southeast of Bridport.
