Norton-on-Derwent, commonly referred to as simply Norton, is a town in the East Riding of Yorkshire, on the east bank of the River Derwent which marks the boundary of the East Riding; across the Derwent from Norton and joined to it by a bridge is the small market town of Malton, in the North Riding of the county. The 2001 census gave the population of the parish as 6,943.

Sport and leisure

Norton, along with Malton, is well known throughout the horse racing industry for the town's many stables.

Malton and Norton Golf Club is a 27 hole golf course located off Welham Road, covered a large part of the south-west end of the town.

Other facilities include Derwent Swimming Pool, Ryedale Skate Park and the recently built sixth form which also includes a gym that is open to the public, all of which serve both Norton and Malton.
