Market Deeping is a market town in Kesteven, Lincolnshire, on the north bank of the River Welland, which here forms the border with Northamptonshire, and the A15 road.

Market Deeping the second largest of The Deepings, a group of villages hereabouts, many bearing the "Deeping" name. The river forms the border with the Soke of Peterborough, the north-easternmost part of Northamptonshire, and across the river is the village of Deeping St James.

The town is known for its stone buildings dating back to the 17th century, its largely 15th century church dedicated to St. Guthlac and the remains of a market cross.

The Deeping Stage Hotel is in Market Place and Old Coach House public house is by the River Welland. Other Deeping pubs are The Vine, The White Horse, The Bull, the Towngate Inn Hotel, the Deeping Stage and Rigby's.

The 2001 census recorded 2,462 households.

The parish church is dedicated to St Guthlac, and stands on Church Street. The nearby rectory was, until recently, the oldest inhabited rectory in Britain. The parish is within the [Diocese of Lincoln]].

The town's market has been held since at least 1220.

The £10 million 4-mile long A15 / A16 bypass opened in July 1998.

In 2007, at the behest of Whitehall, the local council was obliged to provide sites for travellers within its area; 19 sites were proposed, of which 5 were in or near Market Deeping, prompting a public gathering in the town in opposition on 11 July outside the council chambers and a public meeting of 2,000 residents chaired by the local MP.

Sport

Woody Heights skate park in nearby Deeping St James, and a BMX track adjacent to the remains of the original 1980s track, located on the John Eve Playing Field. The Bourne Deeping Hockey Club has recently been formed.
