Cronkley Bridge is a private farm bridge crossing the River Tees, between County Durham on the north bank and the North Riding of Yorkshire on the south bank. In addition to farm traffic, it carries a public footpath, including the Pennine Way.
This is one of the highest bridges on the Tees - only two footbridges are found closer to the source - far above the highest road bridge, and the first above High Force.
Above the south end of the bridge rises the bulk of Mickle Fell, Yorkshire's county top, and its north end is in the moorland rising up into County Durham's highest fells.
The bridge is a single span beam bridge, privately built for farm traffic, and is used by farm vehicles and walkers.
The bleak slope of Cronkley Scar is nearby. The Tees here runs over a stony bed below.
