(British Antarctic Territory)

Location
Location: 64°5’55"S, 62°8’18"W
Data

Abbott Island is a small island amongst the Palmer Archipelago, lying off Graham Land in the British Antarctic Territory. The island lies near the head of Bouquet Bay, in the south part of the bay, between Brabant Island to the south-west and Liege Island.

This island was roughly charted by the French Antarctic Expedition of 1903–1905 under Jean-Baptiste Charcot. It was photographed from the air by the Falkland Islands and Dependencies Aerial Survey Expedition, 1956-57; in association with the names of pioneers of medicine grouped in this area: Abbott Island is named after Maude Abbott (1869-1940), a Canadian authority on congenital heart disease.
