Bob Island is a rocky island one nautical mile long and rising to 476 feet high, amongst the Palmer Archipelago in the British Antarctic Territory. The island lies four nautical miles south-east of Cape Errera, the south point of Wiencke Island, off the Danco Coast.
An island in this vicinity was surveyed, roughly mapped and photographed by the Belgian Antarctic Expedition under Gerlache in 1898. It was originally called Îlot Famine, because a landing party with short supplies was delayed here in its re-embarkation. However in the reports resulting from the expedition it was renamed "Îlot Bob".
During partial resurvey of the area by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey from Port Lockroy in 1944, the island was not found in the position indicated by Lecointe In a survey of the area in April 1955, the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey from Norsel made a landing on this island, and although it differs somewhat in size and position from the Belgian reports, the Survey found it closely resembles the Belgian photograph and consider it to be the island originally named.
