Inverallan is one of the ancient parishes along with Cromdale and Advie which form the ecclesiastical (later civil) parish of Cromdale, Inverallan and Advie in Inverness-shire and Morayshire.

The original parish church was situated on the banks of the River Spey to the south of Grantown-on-Spey. The present building was opened in Grantown in 1886 and was built using materials recycled from the previous one.
