Copeland Island or Big Copeland is the major isle of the Copeland Islands in the North Channel off the Downshire coast, north of Donaghadee. The other two islands of the group lie about a mile to the north.
The island was formerly inhabited and several buildings remain, as does a graveyard. In the early 1800s there were some 100 islanders, all named Clegg, Amerson or Anderson, but the last left during in the Second World War. The main landing place is the relative shelter of Chapel Bat on the south side of the island
Access to the island is form Donaghadee harbour, from which boat trips sail, a fifteen-minute crossing in good conditions.
