Stair is a village in Cumberland. It is situated in the Newlands Valley, to the west of Derwent Water and within the Lake District National Park. It is some four miles by road from Keswick.
The nearby Bradenhow Estate belongs to the National Trust: the 108 acres of the estate were the Trust's first ever land purchase, in 1902. In 2002 a wooden sculpture was installed here commemorating the centenary.
