The Rydberg Peninsula is a broad ice-covered peninsula, thirty nautical miles long, between Fladerer Bay to the west and Carroll Inlet to the east, extending northwards from the root of Palmer Land. The boundary of the British Antarctic Territory, the longitude 80º west, runs through the peninsula, so only its east side is within the territory.
The English Coast of Palmer Land is accounted to begin at the tip of the Ryndberg Peninsula running east, while westward runs the Bryan Coast of Ellsworth Land. Off the east coast of the peninsula lie Smyley Island, the easternmost island in the British Antarctic Territory, and Case Island. South-east is a broad peninsula formed of the Snow Nunataks
The peninsula was mapped by the United States Geological Survey from surveys and U.S. Navy air photos, 1961-1966. The United States Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names chose the name 'Rydberg Peninsula' after Captain Sven Rydberg, commander of USNS Eltanin on Antarctic cruises, February 1962 to June 1963.
