Design
Devised by Philip Tibbetts, the design features the traditional bear and ragged staff used in the county since the Middle Ages and appearing in the modern era on the insginia of many county bodies. The colours of blue and gold are those of the local regiment of fusiliers. Additionally a blue bear features as the emblem of the local constabulary, the local cricket team and the county football association. The bear on this 21st century flag has been freed of the mediaeval muzzle and chain found in earlier depictions of this symbol. The design has been taken up by the Warwickshire Association as their proposal for the county flag.
