Bourne End is a village in Hertfordshire. It is found on the A41 trunk road between Berkhamsted and Hemel Hempstead and beside the Grand Union Canal.
The railway line squeezes through here too: the road, the canal and the railway line all follow the valley of the River Bulbourne. On 30 September 1945 there was a rail disaster at Bourne End when an express train was derailed with many fatalities.[1]
The name "Bourne" is also associated with the irregularly flowing Bourne Gutter, also known as the Hertfordshire Gutter, which flows into the River Bulbourne at Bourne End.[2]
The parish church is St John The Evangelist.
