The Big Gun is mountain in County Kerry, within Ireland's highest range, MacGillycuddy's Reeks. The Big Gun stands at in the easternmost part of the Reeks in a long ridge of high mountains, between Knoickanpeasta to the southwest and Cruach Mhór to the northeast. The Big Gun reaches a height of 3,081 feet.
On the summit is a large grotto with a brass statue of the Virgin and Child.
Ascent
The Big Gun may be approached from Cruach Mhór, which is a hefty climb in itself. From there runs a ridge with faintly defined paths until the slopes of the Big Gun itself are reached, and then the path up is steep, challenging, but better defined.
Another route is from Knocknapeasta along a saddle betyween the two mountains.
