Start Point Lighthouse

Start Point is a rock headland and the easternmost point of Sanday, one of the easternmost of the isles of Orkney: it is the county's easternmost point apart from Dennis Head on North Ronaldsay. An ancient chambered cairn is found on the point.

The point is connected to Sanday only by rocks and only at low tide: at high tide it is separated by Ayre Sound. It is also known locally known as 'Start Island'.

The most prominent feature of Start Point is its lighthouse: Start Point Lighthouse stands 82 feet high at the end of the point.
