Lochan Fada ("long little loch") is a long, large freshwater loch in Wester Ross.
It lies parallel and to the north of Ross-shire's greatest loch, Loch Maree. Slioch, a mountain of 3,215 feet stands between them, and to the north of Lochan Fada are several of Ross-shire's Munros, amongst them Mullach Coire Mhic Fhearchair (3,343 feet), Sgùrr Bàn (3,245 feet) and standing over the loch is Beinn Tarsuinn (3,071 feet). Thus Lochan Fada is found in a spectacular, forbidding landscape.
The loch drains to Loch Maree through the Abhainn an Fhasaig, which carves a steep, rocky gorge and thunders over a waterfall.
The south shore of the loch is in the Letterewe Forest, a bleak, treeless landscape dominated by its great mountains.
