Angerton is a village in Cumberland, in the north of the county at the lowest bridge over the tidal River Wampool before it enters Moricambe Bay and thence the Solway Firth. The lands about the village fade into the Solway marshes. Immediately to the south is Kirkbride, the two villages being indistinguishable along the same lane.
The old coastal railway line from Carlisle to Silloth, seven and a half miles to the west, ran through Angerton, but has long since been closed and lifted.
