Williamscot is a hamlet in northernmost Oxfordshire, beside the young River Cherwell a mile south-west of Wardington (to whose parish it is allocated) and a mile south-east of Cropredy, whose bridge on the Cherwell was the site of a crucial battle of the Civil War that spilled over into Williamscot.
At the western edge of the hamlet stands Williamscot House is an Elizabethan country house, built for Walter Calcott in about 1568.[1] A Queene Anne style wing was added in 1704 and extended in Georgian style in 1777.[2] The Elizabethan part of the house is now Grade II* listed.[1]
