Information |
Watendlath Packhorse Bridge is a single-arched, humpback bridge of slate crossing the Watendlath Beck just below Watendlath Tarn, near Watendlath in Cumberland.
The bridge was built in the eighteenth century – one of several such narrow bridges built in Cumberland to carry packhorses – the main method of trade before roads could be carved through the fell country. It is built of slate rubble with its arch of slate 'voussoirs' or wedges. The bridge today is a Grade-II listed structure.[1]
