Upper Wield is a village in Hampshire, in the parish of Wield, five and a half miles west of its closest town, Alton. Its sister village, Lower Wield, of much the same size, is half a mile to the north, with footpaths joining the two.
The parish church, St James, stands in Upper Wield. A little church built around 1150, with some 15th century details, it is a Grade I listed building.[1] The church underwent a restoration of 1884. It has a Norman aisleless nave and chancel, with a small vestry at the west end. The chancel has a small niche on the north side of the east window, and there is a priest's door. The chancel arch is round, in the pre-Gothic style.
In January 2014 a whirlwind blew away three farm buildings at Blackmoor Game [2]
