The CheviotThe Cheviot is the highest summit in the Cheviot Hills and the county top of Northumberland. Its summit reaches 2,674 feet, and is just two miles from Northumberland’s boundary with Roxburghshire, subsidiary peaks reaching across into that county and indeed providing Roxburghshire’s own county top at Auchope Cairn. The Cheviot is the first major peak at the northernmost end of the Pennine Way long distance path, or its dramatic conclusion for a walker coming from the south. (Read more) |
