Poyntzpass

Poyntzpass is a village on the border between County Armagh and County Down.

Historically, this was one of a few crossing points across a marsh stretching twenty-five miles from Lough Neagh to Carlingford Lough, following the course of a prehistoric glacial overflow channel. The village derives its name from Colonel Charles Poyntz, and its pposition as a pass through the marsh. (Read more)
