Port San Carlos and San Carlos Water, Falkland Islands

Port San Carlos

Port San Carlos is a farmstead settlment on the northern bank of the inlet known as Port San Carlos, off San Carlos Water on the western coast of East Falkland, in the Falkland Islands. It is nicknamed "KC" after former owner, Keith Cameron.

Port San Carlos is north of its namesake San Carlos. Both are named from San Carlos Water, which is named after an eighteenth century ship which explored these waters. The settlement shot to international fame in 1982; it was the first landing place of British forces during the 1982 Falklands War. (Read more)
