Hermitage, DunkeldThe Hermitage, or in full 'the Hermitage pleasure ground', is a site by Dunkeld in Perthshire owned by the National Trust for Scotland. It is laid out on the banks of the River Braan in Craigvinean Forest. The Hermitage was created by the Dukes of Atholl when they had their seat nearby. Two glorious Georgian follies peep out of the forest; Ossian's Hall of Mirrors and Ossian's Cave, built to honour the blind bard Ossian of myth. (Read more) |
