Cilgerran

Cilgerran is a tiny town in Pembrokeshire, and historically was the head town of the commote of Emlyn is Cuch.

Cilgerran stands on the south bank of the River Teifi, which here marks the border with Cardiganshire. From Cilgerran Castle, built in 1100, Owain of Powys is said to have abducted Princess Nest in 1109. This is probably one of the most picturesque castles in Wales and has been painted by many artists including Turner. (Read more)
