Cardrona ForestThe Cardrona Forest is a forest spread over the hills rising to the south of Cardrona, on the Tweed's south bank, and up the steep slope climbing from the riverbank. It is between Peebles and Innerleithen and lies mainly in Peeblesshire, but a finger of Selkirkshire intrudes into the middle. The forest was planted by the Forestry Commission as a mixed conifer woodland. Within the forest a network of tracks can be used by walkers. The remains of a hill-fort are found here. Its highest point is the summit of Kirkhope Law (1,762 feet) at the edge of the forest. (Read more) |
