Tatterford is a village in Norfolk, sitting five miles south-west of Fakenham.
The village's name means 'Tathere's ford'.[1]
History
Tatterford has an entry in the Domesday Book of 1086.[2] In the great book Tatterford is recorded by the names Taterforda, the main landholder being Humphrey de Bohun. The survey also mentions that there were two mills.
Church
The parish church, St Margaret, was built by William Lightly in 1862 as a chapel of ease to the parish church of All Saints at Tattersett. The church was built on the site of an earlier church from the Norman period. The church's east window was designed by Moira Forsyth and was installed in 1951.
