Streetly is a suburban town in Staffordshire, at the edge of the conurbation spreading from Birmingham to the Black Country. It is midway between Walsall and Sutton Coldfield and in the fortunate position of remaining a semi-rural district with farmland and open fields to both north and south, notwithstanding the claims of urban sprawl to east and west.

The local area includes the famous Sutton Park, a broad open space to the south and to which Streetly has its own dedicated gate.

Streetly is to be found around 7 miles to the north of Birmingham City Centre, adjacent to Aldridge, Sutton Coldfield, New Oscott, Great Barr and Four Oaks.

History

Streetly is named after Icknield Street, a Roman road, of which parts can still be found in Sutton Park. Streetly remained largely rural until the construction of modern houses in the district in the 1960s.
