St Paul's is a dispersed settlement in the central part of the island of St Helena, in St Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha, and it gives its name to a district of the island. In 2008 the district had a population of 795 (compared to a population of 908 in 1998) which makes it more populous than the capital of the island, Jamestown.
The village is named after St Paul's Cathedral, which is to be found there.
The Prince Andrew School, the main school on St Helena, is in St Paul's.
District
The district sits in the middle of the island, reaching form the central hills down to the north coast, with Blue Hill to the west. To the east in the hills is the Alarm Forest district, and by the cost it lies adjacent to Half Tree Hollow District, a suburb sitting on the eastern headlands of the James Valley, at the base of which sits Jamestown, the administrative centre of the island, and of the territory.
The main village of the district is St Paul's itself. Also within the district is the Governor's official residence, Plantation House.
Other settlements in the district include New Ground and Thompson's Hill.
