Sandray is an island of Inverness-shire lying amongst the Outer Hebrides. is one of the Barra Isles at the south of the chain. Sandray never had a large population and has been uninhabited since 1934. It is now known for its large seabird colony.
The name "Sandray" if form Old Norse, and means simply "Sand island".
Geography
Sandray lies half a mile due south of Vatersay, and east of Flodday, north east of Lingeigh and Pabaigh. Maol Domhnaigh/Muldoanich is to the north east of it.
