Ruan Major is a hamlet on the Roseland Peninsula in south-western Cornwall. Once the main village of the Parish of Ruan, it has declined into a mere hamlet. It is a mile and a half north-west of the much larger village of Ruan Minor.
The parish church was dedicated to St Rumonus, as is the church in Ruan Minor. In its day its comprised a chancel, nave, and north and south aisles, with a south porch, a priest's door, and a north door. The church was pulled down around 1866, and rebuilt under the direction of Edmund Sedding in 1867 with chancel and nave only. The original tower remains, standing 45 feet high, but the building is now a ruin.
Ruan Major Farmouse is a seventeenth century farmhose, now Grade II listed.[1]
