Quothquan is a village in the parish of Libberton, Lanarkshire.[1] It is located two miles north-west of Biggar, and four miles south-east of Lanark. The name is derived from Gaelic A’ Choitcheann, meaning The Common. The ancient parish of Quothquan was united to that of Libberton in 1669.
To the south-west is the 1,096-ft-high Quothquan Law, topped by the remains of a hill fort.[2]
