Ovington is a small village in Essex, about three miles from the village of Clare.

The village consists just of St. Mary's Church, and a few houses and the farms round about. The skies are visited by the air traffic of Ridgewell Airfield (usually gliders and sometimes military training exercises).

One of the earliest mentions of this place is in the Domesday Book where it is mentioned together with Hedingham Castle and listed amongst the lands of Roger Bigod,[1] received by him from William the Conqueror, amongst wide estates in Suffolk and Norfolk.
