Midgeholme is a hamlet in the east of Cumberland, in the high Pennines on the A689 at the border with Northumberland to the east. The Black Burn (which marks the county border for a short while) runs through the village.
At the 2001 the parish had a population of just 67. The disused Midgeholme Coalfield is found in the north-east of the parish, near the A689 road between Brampton and Lambley, Northumberland.
Cold Fell, at 2,037 feet, is on the boundary of Midgeholme and Geltsdale parishes.
About the village
The only listed building in the parish is Tarn House, built in the late 15th century and extended and altered in 1843, at Grade II*.[1]
The village overlooks Tindale Tarn, the north shore of which forms the boundary with Farlam parish.
