Lower Tamar Lake is a man-made lake on the course of the River Tamar and lying directly on the border of Devon with Cornwall. It is on the uppermost reaches of the Tamar, in the north of Cornwall and of Devon, near Alfardisworthy.
The lake was constructed in the 1820s to supply water to the Bude Canal. It is now a nature reserve.
The reservoir was formed by damming the River Tamar. To the north (upstream) is the newer Upper Tamar Lake, a reservoir used for public water supply.
The county boundary runs along the natural route of the River Tamar, which takes it through the middle of the lake.
