Loch Quien

Loch Quien is a teardrop-shaped freshwater loch on the Isle of Bute. It lies in the south of the island, just 700 yards inland of Scalpsie Bay on the west coast of Bute, and just 200 yards south of the head of Loch Fad, which cuts through most of the width of the island.
Loch Fad, Loch Quien and the bays to south and north, Scalpsie and Rothesay all lie along and are formed by the Highland Boundary Fault, which goes on to cross to the North Sea coast by Stonehaven in Kincardineshire.
Just 70 acres in area, it is rich in trout,[1][2]
