Little Plumstead is a little village in Norfolk, to the north-east of Norwich. To the south lies a hamlet, Plumstead Green, and beyond it Great Plumstead.
The church in Little Plumstead, St Gervase and St Protase is one of Norfolk's 124 remaining round-tower churches. The church is located within the village on Hospital Road and has been Grade II listed since 1962.[1]
History
The name 'Plumstead' is of Anglo-Saxon origin, from the Old English for 'plum-tree place'.[2]
In the Domesday Book, Great and Little Plumstead are listed together as a settlement in the Blofield Hundred.[3]
In the mid-Twentieth Century, a hospital was set up in the grounds of Little Plumstead Hall treating patients with mental health issues. The building was eventually closed after an arson attack.[4]
During the Second World War, a starfish decoy site was built in Plumstead to draw Luftwaffe bombers away from Norwich.[5]

About the village
The Walled Garden Community Shop and Cafe is a business set in a Victorian walled garden in Little Plumstead. It is run as a community benefit society.[6]
