Letchmore Heath is a village in Hertfordshire, standing about three miles east of Watford. It is found between Watford and Radlett, and southwest of Aldenham.
A pretty village of around 150 houses, Letchmore Heath has appeared in film and television frequently, due its charm, its village scenery, and its proximity to Elstree Studios. It has a village green, a village pond and the pub, the Three Horseshoes, is situated on the north side of the green.
The name Letchmore is derived from the Old English "læcemere" meaning "leech lake" or perhaps "muddy pond". The present pond is located to the south of the village green. To the west, but still within the village, is Bhaktivedanta Manor, formerly Piggott's Manor but renamed when bought for an Indian cult by George Harrison of the Beatles.
Transport
Letchmore Heath has no main roads running through it and no public transport. The nearest railway stations are at Radlett and Watford. Apart from this however it is well connected to the rest of the land by nearby motorways; the M1 and M25.
