Lees is a hamlet in south-western Derbyshire, all along a single lane that runs north to south off the old Roman road running westward out of Derby. Two miles further south along the lane is another hamlet, Dalbury, the two being grouped together as a location and parish, known as 'Dalbury Lees'. Lees is the larger of the two hamlets, with around 70 houses and several farms. It is five miles west of Derby's city centre.
The village pub, at the south end of the hamlet, is The Cow.[1] This is the communal centre of the village, along with the green opposite. The green is frequently used for village fêtes and car boot sales.
A new village hall was recently completed on the village lane.
