Laws Glacier
Laws Glacier flows southwards across Coronation Island amongst the South Orkney Islands in the British Antarctic Territory, finally entering Marshall Bay.
The glacier was surveyed by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey from Signy in 1948-49. It is named after Dr Richard Maitland Laws (b.1926), Base Leader and biologist at Signy in 1948-50, and Grytviken, 1951-52, who with D.H. Maling (from whom Maling Peak is named) surveyed the glacier; Laws also served as Head of the Life Sciences Division of the British Antarctic Survey, 1969-73; Director of the British Antarctic Survey 1973-87; and Master of St Edmund's College, Cambridge from 1985. The glacier was further surveyed by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey from Signy in 1956-58.
