Lagotellerie Island lies of the south-west end of Horseshoe Island, which lies in Marguerite Bay on the Fallières Coast of Graham Land in the British Antarctic Territory.
The island was charted by the French Antarctic Expedition of 1908-10, in January 1909, and named IÎle Lagotellerie, probably after a supporter of the expedition. The island was further charted by the British Graham Land Expedition in 1936-37.
The island was surveyed by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey from "Stonington Island" in September 1948. It was designated as a Special Protected Area, SPA No. 19, under the Antarctic Treaty (SPRI, 1986, p.248).
