Kinnear Mountains
The Kinnear Mountains rise to about 3,120 feet above sea level between the Khamsin Pass to the west and the Forster Ice Piedmont and Prospect Glacier to the east, on the Fallières Coast of Graham Land in the British Antarctic Territory.
These mountains were roughly surveyed by the British Graham Land Expedition in September 1936. They were further surveyed by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey from 'Stonington Island' in 1946-49, and photographed from the air by the Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition of 1947-48. They are named after Sir Norman Boyd Kinnear (1882-1957), British ornithologist, who as a member of staff of the British Museum (Natural History) assisted the British Graham Land Expedition; Director of the Museum and member of the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey Scientific Committee, 1947-50; resurveyed by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey from 'Stonington Island' in November 1958.
