Surrey-Kent boundary stone in Spring Park to the north of Kent Gate

Kent Gate is the point at which the A2022 road from Addington to Hayes crosses from Surrey into Kent. On the Surrey side of the border the road is known as Kent Gate Way, and simply Addington Road on the Kent side.

To the north of the road lies Spring Park, one of the areas of common owned by The City of London. The City maintains a number of these commons, acquired in the late 19th century when The Corporation feared that urban development was expanding so fast that there would soon be no open space within easy reach of most Londoners.
