Humps Island (also known as 'Humps Islet' lies in the Erebus and Terror Gulf off the north-east coast of James Ross Island in the James Ross Island Group, a group of islands lying off the north tip of Graham Land in the British Antarctic Territory.
The island is half a mile long with two summits near the western end, situated four nautical miles-south-southeast of the tip of The Naze, a peninsula of northern James Ross Island.
Exploration
The island was roughly surveyed by the Swedish Antarctic Expedition in February 1902. It was resurveyed by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey from "Hope Bay" in November 1945 and named 'Humps Islet' in reference to the twin summits of the island.
