Helton is a village in northern Westmorland, about a mile south of the village of Askham.
Helton stands up the slope on the west side of the River Lowther, with just one road, the lane between Askham and Bampton, a back lane and a lane heading up to the farms on the slopes of High Street. Footpaths cross the hills and down to the river, across while lies the delightfully named hamlet of Whale.
